Various computer Hard drive capacities
Computer hard drive system (HDD) started with the Integrated
Device Electronic technology (IDE) which had 20GB as its pioneering hard disk
capacity. Later the 40GB capacity was developed, and then the 8OGB capacity and
150GB hard disk capacity were introduced. When the need arose for a higher hard
disk capacity due to advancement in computer software technology, the Serial
Advance Technology (SATA) hard disk system was innovated. SATA seems to be the preferred hard disk technology system for most computer manufacturing companies. SATA has various
capacity ranging from 300GB, 320GB, 460GB, 500GB, 700GB and 1000GB which
equivalent to 1TB (1 Terabyte). The Terabyte is the newest and highest capacity
of hard drive system presently; and it is available up to 3TB (3 Terabyte) now.
