Most telecommunications companies that found their way into the Nigerian market
have continued to thrive in their businesses because Nigeria offers the
largest market opportunities to them.
This can be said to be as a result of the large population presence in
Nigeria. This has made Nigeria a fertile land for any telecommunications company
to cultivate on and harvest in multiple as time goes on. Even operators
like Etisalat that came into the country a bit late have been able to find their feet and carved out a niche for themselves, attracting their own
unique customers.
To further assist telecommunications operators in Nigeria to gain more grounds and
increase their successes, necessities like reliable and cost-effective
power supply, protection of infrastructure from vandalism, multiple
taxation, government commitment to the National Broadband plan, spectrum
availability and adequacy must be put in place.
