How Blogging should be approached

Blogging can be likened to fish farming whereby the farmer starts from scratch, constructs a fish pond, establishes a hatchery for fingerlings production and nurtures them for an extended period of time. The farmer continues to put all effort and resources into the business without making a dime. He nurtures for the next six months before the fishes are up to table size and ready for harvest. There is the risk of fishes not developing as expected resulting in poor harvest or total loss. On the other hand, if the fishes do well, he will be smiling to the bank.
A Blogger's story is not far fetched. As a newbie, he creates his blog from scratch, starts developing it through posting good contents. He is interested in compensating his effort through signing up for a monetization program and Adsense is the first point of call. Adsense says NO, you cannot run faster than your legs. Your blog must be up to six months old before it is ready for Adsense. That means he has to continue to nurture is blog for the next six months without making a dime. To avoid inconsistency, he continues to put his time, effort, resources e.t.c and wonders if anything would ever come out of it. After six months elapses he was able to sign up for the long awaited Adsense but gets disapproved by Google for policy and webmaster quality guidelines reasons. Confused, but not given up, he continues blogging with the hope of getting approved someday. That can be very frustrating you know!
Blogging is not a get rich quick business. So, if you are starting with the hope of getting rich overnight, then blogging is definitely not your line. You can try your luck elsewhere. Blogging falls into the category of businesses referred to as "Forget the money and do the work." In blogging, if you put money first, you are definitely going to be disappointed. But if you put passion first, then you will thrive and become successful.
Blogging requires constant effort, posting rich contents, building a followership  and attracting both targeted and organic traffic. Blogging is a long term investment that cannot be fast tracked. You must take it step by step. 'Slow and steady they say wins the race.' That is all that is needed. Don't be over zealous and no copyright write please!
Watch your followers and traffic grow through regular updating and posting. The secret behind Adsense is traffic. A good followership and traffic opens doors to success.
Adsense is a pay per click monetization program. So therefore, you need a high level of page views to make anything out of it. Don't be discouraged because the page views will definitely increase with good contents.
Finally, endeavor to make your blog appealing through a good design and template. Ensure a clear navigation system so that visitors can easily search through the pages of your blog and read complete contents. This contribute immensely to your traffic. A blog without  a professional look can be repelling to visitors. So give your blog a professional touch.
