A question asked Fujistu Limited president in 1979

Here is a question asked Mr. Taiyu Kobayashi in 1979. I wasn’t even born then. As at then, the structure of a computer was so gigantic that it could occupy an entire building.

Question: “How do you foresee the future evolution of computers and your subsequent position as a computer manufacturer?”

Answer: “We will see a significant reduction in the size of computers. They’ll be small enough for a businessman to carry in his briefcase. They’ll cost less, too. But software will be more expensive. Eventually, the software developer will be in a position of trust and respect, just like a lawyer, or any other highly skilled professional, with his own “practice.” Hopefully, these people will be honest.”
Is this not the position of computers and software developers today? As computer not become so small that you can even put it in your pocket? As computer not become so cheap and available for everyone? Are software developers like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg etc not respected all over the world today?
This is really a point of reflection for everyone never to look down on any profession.

The pleasure is my whenever am permitted to share my surface, minute and faint knowledge of ICT with the rest of the world. It also gladdens my heart whenever I share my thoughts, knowledge and experiences with others.
