1. Go to Start and click on control panel
2. Double click on network connections in the control panel window
3. When the network connections window appears, right click on the correct local Area connection that you want to configure. Then click on properties.
4. Select internet protocol (TCP/IP). Then impute the IP address, Subnet mask, default gateway and DNS servers.
No two computers must have the same IP address in the network. The router represents the default gateway which routes the traffic to the other computers in the network or internet. The DNS server or address helps to translate Uniform Resource Locator (URL) to Internet Protocol address (IP).
