Most Nigerians gain access to the internet through their mobile phones
rather than the use of laptops and personal computers. Statistics show that more than
80% of Nigerians use their phones to browse.
The proposed broadband policy of the government which aims at connecting
more 85% of Nigerians to the net come 2019 will further increase the
number mobile phones internet access users.
Today, Nigerians are going for better and higher quality smartphones,
tablets, iphones and laptops because of internet connection. They no longer use
the conventional desktop or ordinary mobile phones which limits their
constant and consistent connection to the internet.
It is a well known fact that most online services are performed by
Nigerians on their mobile phone with a greater percentage accessing the
social network sites like Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Pinterest, Instagram, Eskimi, Tagged with their phones. Using of
phone to browse has over shadowed the use of laptops and desktop computes to
access the internet presently in Nigeria.
