These days, it is better to launch a site on a free hosted platform and then upgrade to a paid hosted domain when the site starts generating massive traffic and good income. The competition online now is so enormous that it is very difficult for a new site to start attracting a good number of visitors under a month talkless of generating reasonable income. The reason for this is not far fetched. In the past, a  site becomes a success witnin a short period of time because of minimal competition but today there is nothing to say or do online that someone else has not said or done and even better.
Most new websites fail to earn any revenue within the one year period of hosting. This is usually a very very big challenge for site owners because they find it very difficult and discouraging renewing their hosting plan when it expires. This invariably leads to abrupt closing of the site.
